When your child has been offered a place at the nursery we will set a start date with you and some settling in time for your child.
We aim to gradually introduce your child to the nursery over a period of one / two weeks [longer if needed].
These times are used only as a guide and your child may need more time to settle in to the nursery.
Changing settings or starting nursery for the first time is a huge step for your child, so the settling in period should be gradual, and all staff will be sensitive to the needs of your child.
Each child will a take different amount of time to settle into nursery, we will work closely with you to make sure this transition goes as smoothly as possible.
This is a guide only - General settling in times are as follows.
1st Day 10.30am until 12.30pm Parent / carer to stay with child
2nd Day As Above
3rd Day 10.30am until 12.30pm Parent / carer to stay for 1 hour.
4th Day 10.30am until 12.30pm Parent / carer to leave after settling in [30 mins]]
5th Day 10.30am until 2.30pm As above
6th Day 9.30 am until 4.30 pm
There after normal working hours of parent, if the child has settled well.
Please allow your child to bring an object of comfort with them while settling in at the nursery, i.e. comfort blanket, toy, or soother.
We do not encourage children bringing their own toys and games to nursery on a daily basis, it can be very upsetting if these get lost or broken, we only allow comfort toys to be kept in the child's basket and brought out when needed.
We will however have sessions when we ask your child to bring something they are interested in to nursery for show and tell time.
This is a valuable tool for us to plan activities around your child's interest.
Your chid will be allocated a key worker who along with the other staff will keep you informed of your child's settling in and developmental progress.
